IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER MEET UPS:

We will be meeting from 5:30-7:30 instead of our usual 7:00-9:00.

August Book Club meet up will be held at The Arboretum with September’s Book Club meet up being held at The Carousel Allotment. 50% of the ticket price for August and September meet ups will go to The Carousel Allotment to support their ongoing development for community outdoor space. I will send you a follow up email with the meet up location and directions.

By purchasing a ticket and attending this outdoor Art Therapy Book Club meeting, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own health, wellbeing, and personal safety throughout the session. Please dress appropriately for the weather, bring any items you may need (such as water, hats, sunscreen or medication), and make decisions that support your own physical and emotional wellbeing. If at any time you feel unwell or unsafe, please take appropriate action, including leaving the session if necessary. Attendance is at your own risk.

Please bring whatever you may need for art making outside with natural resources (gardening gloves or tools, sunscreen, hat, water, picnic blanket, etc).

Iced tea and biscuits will be provided. If you would like to have iced tea, please bring a mug or cup with you so we can keep our meet up environmentally friendly.

Give Yourself Permission to Rest, Create, and Just Be.

Welcome to our Art Therapy Book Club—a sanctuary for those wanting to take a take a break from our busy world and reflect on our lives, the world we live in, and the world we want it to be.

This is a unique hybrid of a book club and a space for using art therapeutically. This book club is intentionally slow and we may be reading the same book for many sessions. Together, we’ll explore powerful books that make us think about our lives, support wellbeing, or make us reflect, and use art to process our discussions, and share our journeys in a supportive community. No art experience needed—just an open heart.

In this space we open with a discussion of the chapter(s) we read, followed by an invitation to make art and continue chatting if you want to, followed by an invitation to share your work if you choose too. There is no pressure to read the chapters fully or read them at all, some people have joined for the vibes of the session and haven’t done any reading, all are welcome :)

A space for connection, creativity, and community.

If you are interested in joining this book club please purchase a ticket for the session you would like to attend!

People are allowed to join at any time.

Read. Discuss. Create. Restore.

Disclaimer: With this club being a hybrid space, I want to clarify that this is not a therapy group but a book club that will use art making to process our discussions within it. This event is being held in a community space with a bar/cafe present and book club members may be drinking alcohol during the event if they chose to. Tea and biscuits will be provided within the group. The books we read and discuss may have strong topics that may be triggering, please look after your wellbeing and skip any chapters you feel are too much. If you are interested in art psychotherapy and processing trauma or stress please reach out to me for 1-1 art therapy sessions.
